Disc reports positive Phase III results for rare light-sensitivity disorder

Disc Medicine reported that its 183-patient, placebo-controlled APOLLO trial of bitopertin met all primary and secondary endpoints in erythropoietic protoporphyria, including improved pain-free light exposure. Dizziness occurred in 50% of treated patients; the investigational medicine remains unapproved, with an FDA resubmission planned by year-end.

Why it matters: Adds late-stage evidence for a potential oral treatment for a debilitating rare disease, pending detailed data and regulatory review.
